Hi, Kim! I’m sure you’ll have a blast in Myanmar! I traveled in Myanmar but it’s safe for solo travelers too. You’ll see that the locals are extremely kind and happy to welcome tourists in their country. Out of all the SE Asian countries, I felt the safest in Myanmar. Have fun!

I want to go to myanmar for the first time. And I asked myself, where to stay and especially for how long at which spot (I have three weeks for myanmar). After reading this I am sure I will spend most of the time in Yangon. 🙂 Because I think otherwise I will get an temple-overload. 😉
But I will also spend some days in Mandalay (name sounds beautiful) and do this ballon flight in Bagan.
Exciting! I am looking forward!
May I ask you one question: Did you travel alone/on your own in myanmar? Because I will…
Greetings from Berlin

I would recommend Yangon since it is bigger and more developed. It really depends on what you really want. For a more relaxed city, choose Mandalay. For a more vibrant city, choose Yangon. Hope it helps!

I totally recommend the buses in Myanmar! They are way more comfortable than in Europe. Plenty of leg room, comfortable chairs and blankets are provided. Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommendations about the Buddha statue.

about 30% Yangon/30% Mandalay & 40% Bagan.

My wife will be traveling with me. She has a bad back & would do
best if we can get a comfortable vehicle in the above 3 places.
Recommendations?

I am an Asian Art Collector and am looking to buy a standing wooden Buddha
statue about 4 ft tall. Can you suggest good places to shop for this?
